Pakistan has defeated South Africa by 93 runs in the first test. In the first Test match played in Lahore, South Africa had a target of 277 runs, in response to which it was reduced to only 183 runs. 39-year-old Pakistani bowler Nauman Ali once again shone, taking 4 wickets in the second innings and a total of 10 wickets in the match. Shaheen Afridi also dismissed 4 batsmen in the second innings. With this, Pakistan has taken a 1-0 lead in the 2 test match series. Now the second test will be played in Rawalpindi from 20th October.

South Africa is the current World Test champion, having defeated Australia by 5 wickets in the WTC final this year. Pakistan team had scored 378 runs in the first innings of Lahore Test. In response, despite Tony De Georgi’s century inning of 104 runs, the African team could score only 269 runs in the first innings. Pakistan got a huge lead of 109 runs in the first innings.

The second innings of Pakistan team, which came with a lead of 109 runs, was reduced to only 167 runs. Babar Azam had contributed 42 runs. Let us tell you that Babar Azam has not been able to score any century in the last 74 innings in Test. In this way South Africa got the target of 277 runs.

While chasing the big target, South Africa lost 4 wickets till the score of 55 runs. Ryan Rickelton and Dewald Brewis somehow took their team’s score beyond 100 by making a partnership of 73 runs. Rickelton scored 45 runs, while Brewis scored 54 runs. The African team lost the last 3 wickets in just 10 runs.

This is the first series of both Pakistan and South Africa in the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. Current world champion South Africa would like to level the series 1-1 by defeating Pakistan in the next match to move towards maintaining its dominance.
