A tragic incident took place on October 16 in United Airlines flight UA1093 going from Denver, America to Los Angeles. The Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft was flying at an altitude of 36,000 feet when the front windshield suddenly broke. A pilot was injured in this incident.
There were a total of 140 passengers and crew members on board the plane. After the windshield broke the plane fell 10 thousand feet. After this, the pilots immediately adopted emergency procedures and brought the plane down and made a safe landing at Salt Lake City Airport. The passengers were later sent to Los Angeles in a Boeing 737 Max 9. No passengers were injured in this incident, but the flight arrived late by about 6 hours.
Pictures surfaced online after the incident
Pictures that surfaced online after the incident showed burn marks on the broken glass and injury marks on the hand of the injured pilot. The plane was about 322 kilometers southeast of Salt Lake City when the crew reported a windshield shattering. Aviation experts believe that the cause of glass breakage could be a collision with space debris or a small meteorite. Generally, the windshield of airplanes can withstand bird strikes or high pressure, but an object hitting it at very high speed can damage it.
United Airlines gave this information
United Airlines said the pilot suffered minor injuries and all passengers are safe. However, the real reason for the crack has not been known yet and the company has not given any official statement on this. This incident is considered serious for the airline industry as windshield breakage is extremely rare. Experts say that such incidents can be dangerous for both passengers and pilots.
Earlier on October 18, a United Airlines plane accidentally collided with the tail of another plane at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. However, no one was injured in this too and all 113 passengers were evacuated safely.
