On the day of Diwali, everyone installs the idol of Lakshmi-Ganesh and worships it with full devotion and rituals. But after this the same question remains in the mind that what should be done with the old idol after worshiping the new idol.

On the day of Diwali, a new idol of Lakshmi-Ganesh is brought and worshipped. But after this, avoid throwing or keeping the old idol here and there. It is inauspicious and inappropriate to throw away the idol of any god or goddess after worship or throw it in the garbage.

After Diwali, worship the old idol also and after that bid farewell to the idol respectfully. Install the new idol at the same place where you had kept the old idol for a year.

Immerse the old idol of Lakshmi-Ganesh in a river or pond. If the soil is eco-friendly, you can immerse it at home also by pouring water in a tub, bucket or pot.

Clay idol is considered very auspicious and pure for worship. But at the same time, clay idols are also considered a symbol of new life and mortality. Therefore, it is necessary to immerse them after worship.

If the idols of Lakshmi-Ganesh are made of metals like gold, silver or brass, then you can clean them with Ganga water and use these idols every year in Diwali worship. These do not require replacement or immersion. Statues made of metal are considered permanent.
