There was firing outside Serbia’s Parliament building on Wednesday (October 22, 2025), in which one person was injured. As soon as the firing took place, there was panic all around and the camp of supporters of Serbian President Alexander Vucic caught fire. President Vucic, who is facing anti-government protests, described the shooting as a “terrorist attack”.

According to local media reports, armed security officers approached a large tent outside the Parliament. Some bullets were fired and then a fire broke out inside the tent. A 70-year-old man shot a 57-year-old man in the leg and then fired a gas canister at a tent camp, sources said.

AFP reported that firefighters quickly brought the fire under control. One person connected to this incident has been arrested and another person has been taken to an emergency medical center. Health Minister Zlatibor Lonkar said that one person has been seriously injured and will have to undergo an immediate operation.

However, the local police has not yet issued any official statement regarding the matter nor has any information been given. However, in the video viral on social media, immediately after the firing, armed security personnel are seen running towards a huge tent outside the Parliament. In another video, a person is seen lying on the ground with his hands behind his back and the police surrounding him from all sides.

Heavy security forces deployed outside Parliament

Let us tell you that this incident has happened amidst the ongoing political tension in Belgrade, where protests and confrontations between government supporters and opponents are frequent. After the attack, a large number of security forces have been deployed outside the Parliament.
