Three people died in a horrific road accident in Southern California, America. 21-year-old Indian youth Jasanpreet Singh, who was living in America illegally, has been held responsible for this accident. According to the police, he was driving the truck in an intoxicated state, due to which the accident occurred. The accused truck driver has been arrested.
How did the accident happen?
The accident happened on the San Bernardino County Freeway, when Jasanpreet Singh’s semi-truck collided with slow moving vehicles. The video of the accident was captured in the dashcam of the truck, in which the truck was seen colliding with an SUV. Three people died and many others were injured in this accident.

Police investigation found that Jasanpreet did not even apply brakes and was driving under the influence of drugs. He was taken to the hospital and a medical examination proved he was intoxicated, California Highway Patrol Officer Rodrigo Jimenez said.

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed that Jasanpreet Singh does not have valid immigration status in the US. He reportedly entered the US by crossing the southern border in 2022 and was released into the country under the ‘alternative to detention’ policy. Now after his arrest, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has issued an immigration detainer against him.
Such a case has come up before also
This incident is not the first. Also in August 2024, another Indian immigrant named Harjinder Singh caused a truck accident in Fort Pierce, Florida, in which three people died. He also entered America illegally in 2018 and later obtained a commercial driving license from there.
