An unwanted record has been added to the names of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. In the second T20 match against Ireland, both the Indian batsmen were out in the very first over of the innings. This has happened only for the third time in Indian cricket when both the opening batsmen were out for zero in the very first over in a T20 match.
In the second T20 match, Ireland batted first and scored 154 runs in 20 overs. When the Indian team came to chase the target, Indian origin bowler Jai Mundra dismissed Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson in the very first over. Samson was out on the very first ball of the innings. Both the batsmen could not even open the account.
This happened only for the third time in Indian cricket.
This has happened only three times in the history of international T20 cricket when both the Indian openers were out in the first over without opening the account. In the year 2016, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane were out on ‘zero’ in the first over against Pakistan.
After that, this happened with Shubhman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the year 2023. Against South Africa, Gill and Jaiswal were out in the first over without opening the account. Now Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson have also joined this list against Ireland.

Shameful record in the name of Sanju Samson
In this match, Sanju Samson was out on the first ball of the Indian innings. Samson is the only Indian batsman who has been out on the first ball of the innings twice in T20 cricket. Before him, KL Rahul, Prithvi Shaw, Rohit Sharma and Abhishek Sharma were out once each on the first ball of the innings.
