Air India Flight: Air India has decided to reduce flights on many of its domestic and international routes between June and August 2026. The airline has called it temporary and said that services will be restored as soon as the situation becomes normal.
According to Air India, in continuation of the changes that were already being made on international routes, now some flights on domestic routes have also been reduced. The airline says that this decision had to be taken due to the continuously increasing prices of fuel.

What changed on domestic routes
- Delhi–Mumbai: 176 to 165 weekly flights
- Mumbai–Kolkata: 42 to 30 weekly flights
- Delhi-Goa (Dabolim/Mopa): Huge reduction in flights.
- Delhi–Bengaluru: 116 to 113 weekly flights
- Delhi–Kolkata: 70 to 63 weekly flights
- Mumbai–Bengaluru: 91 to 84 weekly flights
- Mumbai–Hyderabad: 63 to 59 weekly flights
- Delhi–Indore: 21 to 14 weekly flights
- Bengaluru–Chandigarh: 14 to 7 weekly flights
- Delhi–Kathmandu: From 42 to 28, then 21 weekly flights
Big cuts had already been made on international routes
This domestic cut comes after the big decision that Air India took on international routes last month. The flight from Delhi to Shanghai is completely closed. Delhi-Singapore reduced from 24 weekly to 14, Mumbai-Singapore from 14 to 7, Delhi-Bangkok from 28 to 21, Delhi-Kuala Lumpur from 10 to 5, Delhi-Paris reduced from two to one flight daily, and Delhi-Chicago has been completely closed. Reductions of 15 to 30 percent have also been made on long routes like London, Frankfurt, New York.
It is being told that flights from Delhi to Kathmandu will reduce from 42 weekly to 28 in June and to 21 weekly in July-August. The airline says that despite all these changes, it will continue to operate more than 1,200 international flights every month and will remain connected to five continents.

Fuel and airspace both are the real reason
This time in the airline’s statement, only fuel prices have been held responsible, but the real picture is a little different. Due to the ongoing tension in the Middle East, one has to avoid the airspace of Iran, Iraq and Israel, due to which the routes have become longer and the expenses have also increased. Pakistan’s airspace is also closed for Indian airlines, due to which flights to Europe and America are taking more time and fuel. These two reasons together have made the operation of airlines very expensive.
What options for passengers
Air India has said that passengers whose flights have been affected will be seated on alternative flights and will be given the option to change the date for free or will be given a full refund. The airline has appealed to passengers to continuously check the status of their booking on the Air India app or website as further changes are possible in the coming weeks. The airline has also clarified that the news spread on social media about cancellation of all flights is completely false and baseless.
