Qatar is one of the world’s top natural gas producers, so this big explosion in the industrial area here can also have an impact on the global energy market. On the other hand, due to closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran, Qatar was not able to supply gas to its suppliers, due to which Qatar had stopped its production.

Qatar had stopped gas production after Iran’s attacks

According to officials, in March an Iranian missile had hit ‘Ras Laffan’, causing a massive fire there and causing huge damage. Due to continuous attacks by Iran, Qatar had already stopped gas production there. Now, amid the possibility of improvement in the situation in Western Asia due to talks between US-Iran and relaxation in Hormuz, Qatar has again started work on opening its export terminal. During this time a big accident happened.

Why is ‘Barjan’ plant important?

‘Barzan’ plant is very important for Qatar. Its capacity was to sell approximately 1.4 billion standard cubic feet of gas daily. Qatar used this gas mainly to generate electricity in its country and to run important water purification plants in desert areas. Almost the entire part of this plant belongs to Qatar, while a small part is with the American oil company.
