The state government has taken a historic step to promote higher education in Bihar and to bring the light of knowledge to remote areas. The government has completed preparations to start classes from the new session in 211 new degree colleges of the state. The new academic session will start in all the new colleges from July 1, for which principals have also been posted in all the 211 colleges.

Why was there a need for these new colleges?

Let us tell you that there are total 534 blocks in Bihar. Colleges were already running in many of these blocks, but there were 211 blocks in the state where there was no government or government-recognized degree college. Due to lack of colleges, students of these areas had to go to other cities for further studies (BA, B.Sc. etc.) after 12th or were forced to leave their studies. Girls faced the most problems because due to lack of colleges in remote areas, parents were reluctant to send them out due to safety and distance. Apart from this, many poor families could not even afford to keep their children in cities and educate them. The government took this step only to overcome all these problems.

Promise being fulfilled under ‘Saat Nishchay-3’ scheme

To end this big problem of the students forever, the Bihar government had taken a special decision under its ambitious ‘Saat Nishchay-3’ (Seven Important Promises of Development) program. The fourth part of this program was named ‘Advanced Education, Bright Future’. This simply means that if children get better and advanced education, only then their future will be bright. Under this, the state government had decided that in every block of Bihar where there is no degree college, a new degree college will be opened there.

Studies will start from July 1, principals take charge

After the strict orders of the state government, the Higher Education Department has started preparations to start these colleges. The Higher Education Department first posted the principals in these 211 new degree colleges. Now all these principals have started preparations for the new academic session starting from July 1 in their respective colleges.

Which 6 subjects will be studied in the first phase?

According to the plan of the Higher Education Department, in the first phase mainly 6 subjects will be taught in all these new degree colleges. These include those subjects of Arts Faculty which are most in demand among the students. According to the information, initially students will be able to enroll in a total of six subjects including Hindi, English, Sociology, Political Science and History. In future, science and other subjects can also be added to these colleges.
