CBI Raid on Anil Ambani Companies: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today raided 15 locations in Mumbai and Delhi as part of its ongoing investigation against Anil Ambani-led Reliance ADA Group of companies. This action has been taken in cases related to Reliance Commercial Finance Limited (RCFL) and Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL).

According to CBI, during the raid, 23 interrelated entities related to Reliance ADA Group were taken under the ambit of investigation. It is alleged that these entities were allegedly used to divert loan amounts taken from banks by RCFL and RHFL to other group companies, causing huge financial losses to the lending banks.

Raid on the premises of former officers also

The investigating agency also conducted searches at the premises of former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Reliance Home Finance Limited, former Secretarial Head of Reliance ADA Group and former Chief Treasury Consultant of RHFL.

CBI said that this action was taken on the basis of search warrant issued by the judge of the special court for CBI cases in Mumbai. Many important and objectionable documents have been seized during the search. Further investigation of the case is ongoing.

Investigation into alleged scam of Rs 27,337 crore

The CBI had earlier registered seven FIRs against Reliance Communications Limited (RCom), Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL), Reliance Commercial Finance Limited (RCFL) and Reliance Telecom Limited (RTL) on the basis of complaints received from various public sector banks and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).

In these seven cases, public sector banks and LIC are alleged to have suffered a loss of about Rs 27,337 crore.

38 locations have already been raided

CBI has earlier conducted search operations at 38 places in cases related to Reliance ADA Group. The agency has filed four chargesheets and seven accused have also been arrested. All the accused are currently in judicial custody.

The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the Supreme Court

CBI said that these cases are being investigated under the supervision of the Supreme Court. The agency says that it is committed to a fair, comprehensive and prompt investigation into this matter. At present the documents seized in the raid are being examined.
