US Iran Conflict: Tension has once again reached its peak in the Middle East. America has taken major military action against Iran after the drone attack on a merchant ship in the Strait of Hormuz. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has claimed that it has carried out retaliatory air strikes on several Iranian military bases. America says that this action has been taken in response to the attack on a commercial ship.
CENTCOM said in a statement released on social media platform X that on June 26, the US military carried out retaliatory strikes against Iran. According to the statement, this action was taken in response to the attack in which a merchant ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz near the coast of Oman was targeted on June 25.

Missiles, drone bases and radar sites were targeted
The US military said it attacked Iran’s missile and drone storage facilities as well as coastal radar sites. According to the US, the Singapore-flagged cargo ship M/V Ever Lovely was attacked by a unilateral attack drone while it was leaving the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM said the attack by Iranian forces on the commercial vessel was completely unjustified and a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Security for commercial ships will continue
CENTCOM said the US military will continue to coordinate and provide safe passage to commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. America said that its army is fully alert and deployed in the area to ensure full compliance with the agreement with Iran.
Britain also confirmed the attack on the ship
The British Army said on Thursday that a container ship was hit by a projectile near the coast of Oman. According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Centre, no injuries were reported in this incident.
IMO stopped evacuation of ships
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has temporarily stopped the evacuation of ships stranded in the Persian Gulf. The organization said that evacuation will not be resumed until the safety of other ships is guaranteed. According to IMO Secretary General Arsenio Dominguez, about 115 ships have left the strait in recent days, while about 500 ships are still present in the area.
Donald Trump called the attack ‘stupid’
US President Donald Trump earlier described the attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz as a senseless violation of the ceasefire agreement. Trump wrote on Truth Social that one of the four drones fired at the ship damaged its upper part, but the ship was able to continue its journey. He said that the US Army shot down the remaining three drones.

Warned to Iran
While speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Friday, Trump was asked whether Iran would have to face any consequences after the recent drone attack. To this he said, “You will know soon.” Trump said that he did not like at all that Iran tried to attack the ship. He said, “They had sent four drones, out of which we shot down three. They should not have done this. Now you will soon know what will happen next.”
