Gautam Adani: Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani addressed the CII Annual Business Summit 2026 held in New Delhi today on 11 May. The theme of this year’s summit is ‘The Future – Global Economy, Industry, Society’. In this two-day program, the roadmap to make India a developed nation by the year 2047 will be discussed.
Two important bases of the country’s strength
Addressing the program today, Gautam Adani said that the ongoing tension in the Middle East has made it clear that both energy security and digital security are now the two most important bases of a country’s strength. He said that the country which controls energy and computing or technology these days will shape the coming century. He described India’s crossing of 500 gigawatt power capacity as a major achievement in this direction. He also told that now the world is not ‘flat’ but ‘fractured’ i.e. divided. In such a situation, the supply chain is now being prepared keeping in mind national security instead of just efficiency.
Adani mentioned China and America
While making this point, he gave the example of America and China. Like America first created Energy Abundance and now wants to capture ‘Compute’. Similarly, China also gave priority to ‘AI sovereignty’ along with industrial capability. He said, “If the independence of 1947 was political, then true independence of the 21st century will mean mastery over the energy that lights our homes and mastery over the intelligence that guides our minds.”
India will become global AI hub
Gautam Adani further said that the crisis in West Asia such as the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has made it necessary for India to be self-reliant in the field of energy. During this, he also talked about spending 100 billion dollars (about 8.4 lakh crores) for Sovereign AI and digital infrastructure by 2035. His aim is to make India a global AI hub in the future. This investment is specifically for green-energy based data centers to make the huge power consumption required for AI eco-friendly.
