CNG rate today on April 30: Like petrol and diesel, the prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the country are updated every day. This gas, mainly made from methane, is mostly used as fuel in cars, autos and buses.
As far as price is concerned, today on April 30, CNG prices are largely stable in major cities of India. Today the average price of CNG in the country’s capital Delhi is Rs 77.09 per kg.

If we look at it accordingly, CNG prices in Delhi are lower than other metros. At the same time, prices are higher in Lucknow and Hyderabad due to taxes and transportation.
Why is the demand for CNG increasing?
- Today, CNG is an economical alternative to petrol and diesel. According to an estimate, the cost per kilometer on CNG is around Rs 3.20, while on petrol it can go up to Rs 7 per km.
- In today’s time, CNG is being considered as ‘green fuel’. This is because it has very less harmful emissions like carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide, due to which pollution spreads less.
- CNG gives better mileage than petrol. For example, a car running on petrol gives a mileage of up to 15 km. The same car often runs for 25-30 km on CNG.
- Unlike petrol or diesel, there is no risk of adulteration in CNG.
- CNG does not allow waste to accumulate inside the engine, due to which the spark plugs and other engine parts remain healthy for a longer period.
- CNG is lighter than air. In such a situation, in case of leakage, it dissolves in the air immediately, due to which the risk of fire is avoided to a great extent.
