Credit Card: In today’s time, the use of credit cards is increasing rapidly. From shopping to online payment, people are using cards everywhere. But if your credit card is stolen or lost somewhere, a huge loss can occur within a few minutes. In such a situation, instead of panicking, it is most important to take the right steps immediately. If some important tasks are done within the first hour, the risk of fraud, loss and unauthorized transactions can be reduced to a great extent.
1. Block the card
As soon as you come to know that the card is missing or stolen, the first thing to do is block it. Almost all banks provide the facility of blocking cards through their mobile app, internet banking and customer care. Once the card is blocked, no new transaction can be done with it. Therefore, there should be no delay in this at all.

2. Inform the bank
After blocking the card, call the customer care number of the bank and inform about theft or loss. The record of giving information to the bank can be useful to you later. If any suspicious transaction occurs, it will be easy to prove during investigation that you had informed the bank in time.
3. Check Transaction
Check recent transactions by opening the mobile banking app or credit card statement. If you see any payment that you have not made, immediately complain to the bank. Many times, after a card is stolen, the thieves first check the card by doing small transactions.
4. Delete card from online platform
If your card is saved on Amazon, Flipkart, Swiggy, Zomato, Ola, Uber and any other app, then immediately remove the card from there. In many cases, after the card is stolen, an attempt is made to make transactions through the saved card also. Therefore this step is also very important.

5. Apply for a new card
After the card is blocked, request the bank to issue a new credit card. Most banks issue a new card within a few days. After receiving the new card, all the facilities of the old card resume safely.
Keep these things in mind to avoid fraud
- Do not keep the card photo open in your mobile.

- Avoid clicking on suspicious links
- Always keep SMS and email alerts on
- Keep checking card statement from time to time
Delay may prove costly
The first 60 minutes after card theft are most important. The sooner the card is blocked, the lesser will be the possibility of fraud. Therefore, if your credit card is ever stolen or lost, instead of panicking, take immediate action. A little vigilance on your part can save you from loss of thousands of rupees.
