The death of 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal, which took place at Lohagarh Fort in Pune on June 18, was initially considered an accident. Fiancee Siya Goyal told the police and family that Ketan’s foot slipped while trekking and he fell into a ditch about 350 feet deep. But as the investigation progressed, layers of this alleged accident were revealed and the case turned into a planned murder conspiracy. Today the whole country is asking the same question, what happened that the girl who was going to get married after four months, allegedly hatched a conspiracy to kill her own fiance?
The police investigation is now looking for answers to the question as to who gave the last push to Ketan into the ditch. Both Siya and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary are in police remand and during interrogation, both are calling each other the main accused. Sia says that Chetan gave the final push, while Chetan is claiming that the entire plan was Sia’s and she pushed Ketan into the ditch. That is, in the same love for which an innocent person lost his life, now instead of saving each other, both are trying to prove each other guilty.
Police surprised at Sia’s statement
The reason given by Sia during interrogation before the police surprised everyone. According to sources, Sia said that she did not want to marry Ketan. She also told that Ketan stammered a bit and had less hair on his head, so she was not happy with him. On the other hand she loved Chetan. However, Ketan’s family says that both the families were already aware of these things of Ketan. The family is raising the question that if someone’s physical disability was not liked then can murder be the solution?
The most surprising thing is that when seen from outside, the relationship between Sia and Ketan appeared absolutely normal. Be it the engagement photos, birthday preparations or the WhatsApp chat between the two, nowhere does it appear that Sia was dissatisfied with the relationship. In the chat captured by the police, both were talking like a normal couple. This is the reason why the investigating agencies are now also considering whether all this was a part of Sia’s plan so that no one would doubt him after the murder.
Who insisted on going to Lohagarh Fort?
Another big controversy in this matter is about who had insisted on going to Lohagarh Fort. Ketan’s family claims that Sia took Ketan to Lohagarh for the third consecutive time. She says that even before this she had taken Ketan to the same place twice and once an attempt was also made to push him. On the other hand, Sia’s family claims that there is evidence in video calls and chats which show that Ketan had expressed his desire for this trip. This is the reason why both the families are now putting forward different things in support of their respective claims.
During the investigation, the police found that the alleged murder conspiracy started from June 17. Just a day before the murder, Sia and Chetan met at a cafe in Pune at around 4.30 pm. Both were seen together in the CCTV cameras installed there. Police claim that both of them made the final plan of the murder while sitting in this cafe. Investigation also revealed that both of them searched information about Lohagarh Fort on the internet, searched about how the murder could be shown as an accident and also decided on clues to be used the next day.
The second phase of the plan started on the morning of 18 June. Siya took a cab from her house. On the way he met Ketan. On the other hand, Chetan left for Lohagarh via the old Pune-Mumbai highway on bike. According to the police, Siya and Ketan reached the ticket counter at around 10.20 in the morning. After three to four minutes, Chetan also appeared there wearing a hoodie and mask. These pictures were recorded in the CCTV camera installed at the ticket counter, which later changed the direction of the entire case.

What came to light in the investigation? How hoodie revealed the whole secret
Investigation revealed that apart from the ticket counter, most of the CCTV cameras of the fort were switched off or their wires had been damaged by monkeys. This was the reason why no direct video of the incident was found. But in the footage of the ticket counter, Chetan, who was roaming around wearing a hoodie despite the 33 degree temperature, attracted the attention of the police. According to the investigating officers, after about 45 minutes the same Chetan was seen coming down. Police believe that the entire incident took place in about 45 minutes from the time they reached the fort, to committing the crime and returning.
During the spot investigation of ABP News, when correspondent Suraj Ojha reached Lohagarh Fort, the employees and guards present there told that on the day of the incident, they had heard the scream of a girl, after which they ran towards the spot. But by then Ketan had fallen into a deep ditch. It was very difficult to reach that place located about 350 feet below. It took a long time for the rescue team to reach there. Police believe that Siya also had an idea that even if Ketan had survived after falling into such a deep ditch, it would have been almost impossible to get help on time.

Investigation has also revealed that after the incident, there was no picture of Lohagarh in Sia’s mobile. Whereas usually people going on trekking take many photographs. The family says that there were no obvious expressions of sadness on Sia’s face. These small things deepened the suspicion of the police.
Now the police is preparing to do crime scene recreation of the entire incident. Forensic experts will try to find out which places Ketan might have hit while falling down from the top. The police are also interrogating Sia’s brother and other family members so that her behavior and mental state can be understood after the incident.
Was Ketan killed for some other reason?
The biggest question in this entire case still remains the same – did this murder happen only because of love affair or was there some other reason behind it? Was an innocent life taken away because he did not have the courage to refuse the marriage? The final answer to these questions will be available only from the scientific and circumstantial evidence presented in the court. At present the police investigation is going on and both the accused are in police remand. The final truth will become clear only after the evidence presented in the court and the judicial process.
