Don’t panic if biometric fails in NEET UG re-exam, this is NTA’s plan

The re-exam of NEET UG 2026 will be conducted tomorrow. Earlier this examination was held on May 3, but it was canceled after the paper leak cases came to light. Now NTA (National Testing Agency) is conducting the examination afresh and this time the security arrangements have been kept more strict than before.

After reaching the examination centre, the candidates will first have to go through frisking and checking of admit card. After this, Aadhaar based biometric verification will be done before entering the examination hall. This process is necessary to ensure the identity of the candidate.

It is important to follow the rules

NTA has warned that if any candidate refuses to undergo biometric verification without any valid and recorded reason, it will be considered a violation of the examination rules. In such cases, action can be taken under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.

What if Aadhaar/Biometric Verification fails?

Many times biometric verification is not successful due to technical reasons. Such as machine malfunction, internet or UIDAI server problem, fingerprint not being clear or it not being possible to give biometrics due to any physical reason. There is no need to panic in such a situation. NTA has clearly said that no candidate will be stopped from appearing in the examination merely because of biometric failure.

What does the candidate have to do?

If your biometric verification is not done then immediately inform the officials of the examination center. Obtain the prescribed Undertaking Form from the Center Superintendent. Fill the required information in the form and submit it. Cooperate in additional verification as prescribed by the authorities. If any receipt, instructions or post-exam verification document is provided, keep it.

Verification will not happen during the exam

According to NTA, biometric testing can be done before the commencement of the examination and if necessary, after the examination is over. No student will be harassed during the examination. Candidates will have to reach the examination center between 11 am to 1:30 pm. No candidate will be allowed entry after 1:30 pm.

NTA’s appeal

NTA has said that all preparations have been completed to conduct the examination in a fair, safe and smooth manner. The agency has appealed to the candidates to remain calm, have confidence in their preparation and follow the prescribed guidelines.
