Ethanol: There is big news for vehicle owners. There is every possibility that the decision to mix 25% ethanol in petrol will be postponed. Amidst the ongoing debate on E20 across the country, the central government is currently in no hurry to implement petrol containing E25 i.e. 25% ethanol. According to the report of Indian Express, in view of people’s concerns and increasing protests, the government may postpone this decision for some time.

Why will the decision be postponed?
In recent times, many vehicle owners have complained about E20 petrol reducing mileage, vehicle damage and effect on old vehicles. For this reason, the government now wants to do further investigation, technical study and discussion before implementing E25.

What is the matter now?
At present E20 petrol is available across the country. This petrol contains 20% ethanol and 80% petrol. The aim of the government is to reduce dependence on crude oil imports, reduce pollution and promote the use of ethanol to increase the income of farmers.

Preparation will be done before implementing E25
According to the Indian Express report, the government wants that vehicle companies, oil marketing companies and all other agencies should be fully prepared before implementing E25. For this, work will also be done on things like re-testing of vehicles, engine calibration.

Vehicle owners say that there have been complaints of reduced mileage in some vehicles due to E20 petrol. However, auto companies and the government say that E20 has been implemented after long testing and it is completely safe for new vehicles.

What does the government want?
The government wants to further promote ethanol mix petrol in the future, but for now the decision to implement E25 will not be taken in haste. First the investigations will be completed, only after that the further strategy will be decided.
