The firing incident at the Juhu house of famous Bollywood film producer and director Rohit Shetty was carried out at midnight on 31 January. The case was being investigated by the Special Team Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police. In such a situation, a charge sheet was filed in the court by the Anti-Extortion Cell in the case of firing at Rohit Shetty’s house, in which it has become clear in the police investigation that a team associated with Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind this incident. Their main objective was to maintain their fear and dominance in Mumbai city.
What is the whole matter?
It was told in the charge sheet that this incident took place between 00:30 and 00:45 am on the night of 31 January and early morning of 1 February 2026. A case was registered at Juhu Police Station on the complaint of one of Rohit Shetty’s personal security guards posted at his Juhu residence (Shetty Tower).
At the time of the incident, an unknown assailant had fired indiscriminately at Rohit Shetty’s house with the aim of killing him. Initially, Juhu Police had registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and Indian Arms Act, but later, considering its seriousness, the investigation was handed over to the Anti-Extortion Cell.

Action under MCOCA law in investigation
After police investigation, statements of witnesses, CCTV footage and technical analysis, links were added one after another in this case. Investigation proved that this was not an ordinary firing, but an organized crime. Subsequently, with the approval of the competent authority, on 11 February 2026, sections 3(1)(ii), 3(2), and 3(4) of the stringent MCOCA law (Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act, 1999) were added to this case. So far 15 accused have been arrested in this case, who are currently in judicial custody.
Many big revelations made in the charge sheet
Along with this, many big revelations were also made in the charge sheet filed in the court. Shubham Lonkar and Arju Bishnoi were the masterminds of this firing. In its charge sheet, the police have named accused Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar and Naveen Kumar, Dalit Kumar alias Arju Bishnoi as the main wanted accused. It has also been told in the charge sheet that Shubham Lonkar had created the entire organized criminal group involved in the firing at Rohit Shetty’s house.

Took responsibility on social media
Immediately after the firing incident, on February 1, 2026, the accused took responsibility for the attack by posting on social media. It was written in the post, ‘Today they take responsibility for the firing at Rohit Shetty’s house in Mumbai. From now on, there is a warning to the entire Bollywood to improve in time otherwise they will end up like Baba Siddiqui.

Use of fake Aadhaar card for Reiki
Police investigation revealed that accused numbers 6 and 7 had used fake Aadhaar cards and false names to stay in a guest house in ‘Kalyan’ to conduct recce of Juhu area and Rohit Shetty’s house. Not only this, he had also erased the engine and chassis numbers of the vehicle. A motorcycle was used for the crime, whose number is said to be MH-12, FN-2205. When it was investigated through RTO (Tardev, Mumbai), it was revealed that the accused had completely scratched out the engine and chassis numbers of the vehicle to hide the identity.

Wanted accused Arju Bishnoi and Shubham Lonkar had provided firearms (pistols) and live cartridges to the shooters. Apart from this, funding was also transferred to the shooters and helpers through different bank accounts.

Mobile and SIM cards destroyed
Due to the fear of being caught after committing the crime, the accused were instigated to completely destroy their mobile phones and SIM cards, so that the police could not find any technical evidence. However, the police have collected solid evidence through deleted data and CDR.
Present solid evidence in court
According to Mumbai Police, some of the arrested accused have also recorded their confession statement before the competent authority, which is considered a very important evidence in the court under the MCOCA law. Apart from this, the ballistic report of Forensic Lab (Kalina, Mumbai) has also proved that bullets were fired at Rohit Shetty’s house from the recovered weapons.
