Most of the exit polls released after record voting in West Bengal have shown BJP getting majority. Union Minister Sukant Majumdar claimed on Friday (1 April 2026) that BJP government is going to be formed in Bengal with two-thirds majority. He claimed that those who live outside Bengal have also come here and voted against Mamata Banerjee.
In an interview given to news agency IANS, he said that BJP is going to get a big victory under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On the strong room controversy, he said, ‘Mamata Banerjee and TMC have agreed that they are going to sit in the opposition. Opponent mode has been turned on. Mamata Banerjee has accepted that she is going to lead the opposition party. The Union Minister said that the Election Commission has responded to all the allegations made by TMC.
Regarding the investigation into corruption in Mamata Banerjee’s government, he said that the Chief Minister and her cabinet members will decide what to do next. He said that wherever such a thing comes to light, the government will take strict action. The Union Minister said that Islamic fundamentalism should be stopped. It is not right to comment on this in advance. The Chief Minister and Cabinet Ministers will decide once our government is formed, but it is certain that Islamic fundamentalism has to be eliminated from Bengal.
Sukant Majumdar gave update regarding CM in Bengal
BJP has been avoiding announcing the name of the Chief Minister before the election results. However, during the election campaign, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said several times that the CM of Bengal will be a resident of Bengal and a Bengali speaker. Regarding the question related to the Chief Minister, Sukant Majumdar also did not mention anyone’s name directly. He said that the parliamentary committee will decide who will be the CM of Bengal.
What did the Union Minister say about fencing on the border?
He said that good people who believe in their religion should follow it accordingly. Bigotry is not acceptable. Regarding fencing on the border, he said, land will be made available to BSF in collaboration with the Central Government. Will complete the fencing work as soon as possible. In the coming time, BJP government will follow Deduct, Delete and Deport. To ensure that there is no violence in Bengal, he said, ‘Home Minister Amit Shah has told that central forces are going to be deployed in Bengal for two months. BJP government will bring democracy to West Bengal. He stressed that only BJP government is going to be formed.
