Well-known Bollywood actor and director Farhan Akhtar often remains in the news for some reason or the other. Now he is making headlines for one of his interviews. Actually, Farah recently reached Rajat Sharma’s show ‘Aap Ki Adalat’, where he narrated an interesting anecdote. Farhan Akhtar shared an incident related to the sets of the film ‘Lamhein’. The director told that due to one of his mistakes, late actress Sridevi had slipped and fallen on the set.
When Sridevi fell because of Farhan Akhtar
Farhan Akhtar has been an assistant to cinematographer Manmonhan Singh. Farhan was also present on the sets during the shooting of Sridevi and Anil Kapoor’s film ‘Lamhein’ in 1991. During the shooting of a song, when Manmohan Singh looked at the wooden floor from above, he saw some spots shining and he asked to clean those marks.
What did Farhan Akhtar say?
After listening to Manmohan, Farhan Akhtar immediately reached the floor with spot removing polish. Next to the same floor, choreographer Saroj Khan was teaching dance to Sridevi. While narrating the incident, Farhan Akhtar said, ‘Who am I to bring down Srideva, but yes, such an accident did happen. I was an assistant cameraman. Manmonhan Singh was the cinematographer. A song was to be shot, where Sridevi had to dance in anger because Anil Kapoor rejects her love in the film. A wooden floor was made in the studio to shoot this dance of Sridevi.

Farhan Akhtar said- I thought my career was over
He further said, ‘Sridevi ji was practicing with Saroj ji for the last shot, everything was ready. Manmonahan saw through a lens that there were some marks on the wooden floor, he said to clean it quickly. I started cleaning the set. I looked up to see where the marks were visible. At the same time, suddenly Sridevi ji was walking. Her foot slipped in the polish and she fell straight in front of me.
He further said, ‘Complete silence in the set. There was so much silence that you could even hear your breathing and heartbeats. I thought my career was over. I thought that I would not get work in any film now, but Sridevi started laughing. Then everyone else started laughing. I am grateful to him. My career started because of him.

Talking about ‘Lamhein’, the director of this film is Yash Chopra. This 1991 film featured actors like Sridevi, Anil Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman and Anupam Kher. According to Bollywood Hungama, ‘Lamhein’ had earned Rs 20.75 crore at the box office. You can watch this film on Netflix.
