First round of talks between America and Iran ends in Switzerland, consensus reached on high level committee, Araghchi’s first reaction

The first round of talks between America and Iran in Switzerland has ended. In this talk, both sides have agreed to form a high level committee. A joint statement has been issued by Pakistan and Qatar on this matter, while Iran’s first reaction has also come to light.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that due to the continuous mediation of Pakistan and Qatar, major progress has been made towards ending the Lebanon war. The ban on oil and petrochemical exports to Iran has been lifted. The blockade in Hormuz has been ended. Apart from this, some frozen assets have also been released and a large-scale reconstruction and development plan has been started. He further wrote that the biggest test is the de-confliction cell in Lebanon.

Both sides agreed on high level committee

According to the joint statement of Pakistan and Qatar, ‘The Lake Lucerne Summit took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere. There has been some encouraging progress, including the creation of a system for further technical negotiations. On the basis of the MoU, all parties have agreed to form a high-level committee, which will provide political oversight to the arbitration process. The Chief Negotiator will report regularly to the High-Level Committee and lead working groups such as the Monitoring and Dispute Resolution Group to effectively implement the nuclear, sanctions and MoU.

What will be the work of High Level Committee?

The high-level committee has agreed on a roadmap to reach a final agreement within 60 days, laying the groundwork to immediately begin further technical negotiations. Furthermore, to ensure safe movement of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz and to avoid any incidents or misunderstandings, a communication line has been created between the parties for the period specified in paragraph 5 of the MoU.

What happened on stopping the war in Lebanon?

According to the joint statement, all parties have agreed to create a ‘de-confliction cell’ to ensure adherence to the MoU to stop military operations in Lebanon. This cell will work between the parties and Lebanon and the mediator country will help in this. Technical talks on all issues will continue at the Bürgenstock Resort for the rest of the week.

Trump had threatened Iran

Donald Trump once again threatened Tehran amid talks between Iran and America in Switzerland. He said that Iran should stop those groups in Lebanon which it supports by giving money. They are creating trouble. Trump threatened that if Iran does not do this, we will again attack Iran very strongly, as we did last week, but this time even more forcefully.
