The latest case is from the country’s financial capital Mumbai. Here a person ordered iPhone 14 Pro (128 GB) from online shopping platform Flipkart for Rs 1 lakh 11 thousand. But in the box he found beard growth oil. After this the person knocked on the door of the Consumer Court of Mumbai.
What order did the court give?
After hearing this case, the court directed Flipkart to return an amount of more than Rs 1.11 lakh to a customer. Not only this, the court also ordered Flipkart and the seller selling iPhone to pay Rs 70 thousand to the customer as compensation and litigation expenses. The court said that it is unfair to repeatedly close customer complaints without providing any relief.

During the hearing of the case, the court found that the customer had ordered the iPhone from Flipkart after making the necessary payment. It was the responsibility of the platform to ensure delivery of the right product. The court said that after providing the facility of sale, the e-commerce platform cannot keep itself away from buying and selling.
Both Flipkart and seller are guilty of deficiency in service – Court
After this, the court found the seller i.e. International Value Retail Private Limited guilty of deficiency in service. The court said that despite repeated appeals, the seller failed to deliver the iPhone or resolve the customer’s complaint. The court held both Flipkart and the seller jointly and severally liable and said that they are responsible for the loss and inconvenience caused to the complainant.
