Gmail Spam Issue: Millions of people around the world use Gmail to send and receive emails. From job applications to banking alerts, OTP, business updates and important documents, many important information is received through email, but many times it happens that instead of appearing in the inbox, the important mails go straight to the spam folder. In such a situation, the user does not get timely information and many important updates are missed. If this problem is happening to you too, then there is no need to panic, this problem can be solved by changing some simple settings in Gmail.
Why do important emails go to spam?
The Spam folder on Gmail is designed to identify suspicious and unwanted emails. However, sometimes this system mistakenly considers even such emails as spam, which are actually important. This can happen if the person sending is not included in your contact list. An email may have previously been marked as spam or Gmail’s filter settings may have been configured correctly. For this reason, mails containing job, banking or other important information can also reach the spam folder.
Removing Email from Spam Folder First Steps
If an important email has gone to the folder, it should be marked as Not Spam. This signals to Gmail that this email is secure and the possibility of future mails from the same sender going into spam is greatly reduced. Open Gmail on the computer and go to the Spam section, select the relevant email and click on the option ‘Note Spam’. Mobile users can go to the Gmail app and click on the Report Note Spam option.
Save important email addresses in contacts
Google says that Gmail considers the email addresses which the user saves in his contacts as more trustworthy. This is why it is advisable to save the email address of an important person, company or institute in Google Contacts. For this, open Google Contacts and create a new contact and save the required email address. This will increase the chances of their emails appearing directly in their inbox in the future.

Gmail filter may provide a permanent solution
If emails from a particular person or organization are repeatedly going into spam, then Gmail’s filter feature can prove to be very useful. With the help of this feature, rules can be set for a particular sender. To create a filter, click on the search option available in the search bar of Gmail. After this, enter the relevant email address in the form section and select the create filter option. Here activate the Never send it to Spam option. After this, emails from that sender will start arriving directly in the inbox.
What should mobile users do?
Android and iPhone users can also circumvent this problem to some extent by removing the email from the Spam folder and adding the sender to Contacts. However, currently the facility to create custom filters is available only through Gmail on computer.
