This survey will find out how much people are spending on which items. Only this survey will tell how the shopping pattern is changing across the country.
The government says that till now, whatever data is available related to household expenditure, complete information is not available and it is not known which things are being sold at different types of shops.

In the survey, information related to sales will be collected from grocery stores, clothing stores, medical stores, electronics, utensils shops and other retail outlets. This will help in understanding how much people are spending on daily needs, gadgets, clothes and other items.
Will the government demand accounts?
The government does not want to collect details of any person’s personal purchases or taxes from this survey. Its entire focus is to understand the retail market and people’s spending. That is, the government just wants to know that the demand for which goods is increasing in the country, which is decreasing and in which direction people’s expenditure is going now.
