How did Hindu culture reach Indonesia from India?

According to historians, Hinduism reached Indonesia not through any military campaign, but through sea trade. Around the first century, traders from South India started reaching Indonesia to trade in spices, clothes and other goods. Along with them, Indian culture, language, religious traditions and the art of temple construction also reached there. Gradually the local rulers adopted Indian culture, after which Brahmins were invited from India, who spread religious traditions and worship methods. During this period, the worship of Ramayana, Mahabharata, Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma became popular there.
