It started with the 2007 T20 World Cup
The first T20 International match between India and England was played in the 2007 T20 World Cup. In that match played at the Kingsmead ground in Durban, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the captain of the Indian team, while the command of England was in the hands of Paul Collingwood. This was that historic match, in which Yuvraj Singh created history by hitting six consecutive sixes in one over of Stuart Broad. India made a big score of 218/4 in that match and won by 18 runs.

Since 2007, both the teams have come face to face 30 times in T20 International. In these, India has won 18 matches, while England has been successful in winning 12 matches. If we look at the recent records, India has won six out of the last seven T20 matches against England. This also includes the semi-finals of the 2026 T20 World Cup, in which Team India defeated England by 7 runs and made it to the finals.

If we talk about the T20 matches played on English soil, the host team has had the upper hand here. So far 9 T20 International matches have been played between the two teams in England, in which England has won 5 and India has won 4.

At the same time, so far four bilateral T20 series have been played between the two countries in England. In these, both the teams have won two series each.
