All viewership records were broken in IPL 2026. The 19th season became the most watched season. With this, the final match played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans also became historic in itself. The title match also shattered all viewership records.
In a report published in Economics Times, JioStar was quoted as saying that this time’s IPL season has achieved the highest viewership. Total views including TV and digital reached 1.2 billion (120 crores). The broadcaster said that there has been an increase of 7%. Whereas the watch time was 870 billion minutes.
RCB and GT broke records in the final also
The final played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans became the most watched match in the history of the tournament. The title match was seen on 400 million (40 crore) screens.
Talking about the record-breaking viewership, Ishan Chatterjee, CEO, Jiostar Sports, said, “IPL 2026 was the season in which we began our journey towards what a truly integrated sports platform should be. Our endeavor was to make every screen, every interaction and every moment meaningful, so that fans not only watch sports on our platform, but also engage with it in ways that are completely context-based and personalized.”
He added, “The season finale numbers are a testament to the efforts we have made across platforms, with CTV’s community experience and regional language offerings driving unprecedented growth.”
Bengaluru won the second consecutive title
This time Bengaluru had won the second consecutive title. In the final played against Gujarat, RCB won the second title by winning by 5 wickets. In the last i.e. 2025 season, Bengaluru won the first title by defeating Punjab. Bengaluru won both the initial titles under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar.
