After the 21-hour marathon peace talks in Islamabad remained inconclusive, news of a second round of talks between America and Iran for an ‘agreement’ has started floating again. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has claimed that Iran has contacted the US administration and is requesting for a compromise.
‘Iran wants to compromise’ – Trump
According to the US President, a call was made from Tehran on Monday for a deal. He claimed that Iran seems desperate for a compromise and wants to do so as soon as possible. However, there has been no official response from Iran on Trump’s claim yet.
Iran claims to have contacted US
Trump said, ‘Iran has contacted America after the failure of peace talks in Pakistan amid ceasefire. A call was made from his behalf. He wants to make a deal at any cost. We want to clearly state our condition that if Iran maintains its nuclear capability then any agreement will be difficult.
What did Trump say?
He further said that ‘he does not want to give any comment right now on what will happen if an agreement is not reached till the end of the ceasefire. However, he added that if this happens, it will not be good for Iran. Iran has refused to consent to possessing nuclear weapons but America will take back that nuclear material.
US President Donald Trump said that Iran ‘will not acquire nuclear weapons’. Further said, America has started naval blockade because they are pressurizing Tehran to return to talks.
During an unplanned press conference outside the Oval Office, Trump said that the dispute with Iran is over nuclear capabilities. He said, ‘This is about the fact that they will never get a nuclear weapon, Iran will not have a nuclear weapon.’
‘I’m sure he will agree’
He further said that Tehran had not accepted this condition during the talks. ‘We agreed on many things, but he did not agree on this and I think he will agree. I am almost sure. Actually, I’m pretty sure. If they do not agree, there will be no agreement.
On the military front, Trump confirmed that the blockade has begun. Trump said, ‘We cannot allow any country to blackmail or extort the world, because that is what they are doing. They are actually blackmailing the world. We will not let this happen. Trump indicated that the blockade could serve several purposes, including bringing Iran back to the negotiating table and stabilizing global energy markets.
