US President Donald Trump has announced ceasefire with Iran on Wednesday (April 08, 2025). After 40 days of war, both the countries have agreed on ceasefire. Earlier, Trump had said that if Iran does not cease fire before the deadline, then its power plants and infrastructure will be targeted. Let us know what are the big updates till now-
1- Trump described the 10-point peace proposal presented by Iran as practical. He said that America will refrain from targeting Iran’s power plants, bridges and other infrastructure. There will be a meeting between Washington and Tehran in Islamabad on April 10 to establish peace in the Middle East.
2- Despite the increase in diplomatic efforts, uncertainty and violence continued at the ground level. Iran has accepted the ceasefire agreement, but the fear of attacks in the Gulf region remains. Despite the White House agreeing to a ceasefire, the Israeli army continued attacks on Iran.
3- Trump announced, ‘I am stopping the destructive force being sent to Iran tonight and I agree to suspend the bombing and attack on Iran for a period of two weeks if the Islamic Republic of Iran agrees to fully, immediately and safely open the Strait of Hormuz.’
4- Iran said, ‘If attacks on it are stopped, our powerful armed forces will stop their defensive operations.’ Iran also said that it is considering the request for talks based on America’s 15-point proposal. Besides, Washington is also considering accepting Iran’s 10-point plan as a framework for talks.
5- Tehran further said that for a period of two weeks, safe movement through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible taking into account the coordination and technical limitations of Iran’s armed forces.
6- Iran called it a victory for Tehran and its Supreme National Security Council said that Trump has accepted Iran’s conditions for ending hostilities. However, the White House responded that the reality is that President Trump and the US military had forced Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
7- White House officials have confirmed that Israel has agreed to stop the bombing campaign against Iran. However, Israeli military officials said the country was still carrying out attacks. A formal statement from Tel Aviv is awaited.
8- Ceasefire has been announced between Iran and America, despite this missile alerts were issued in the Gulf region including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait.
9- According to reports, Iran’s long-term peace plan includes imposing taxes on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with Oman. Tehran says this revenue will be used for reconstruction. Apart from this, Iran’s conditions for ending the war include withdrawal of US combat forces from the region, removal of sanctions and release of its seized assets.
10- Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that in the ceasefire, Israel and Hezbollah have also been demanded to stop fighting in Lebanon. He has invited the delegations of Iran and America to meet in Islamabad on Friday and wished for lasting peace and more good news in the coming days.
