Jackfruit Farming Profit: In today’s time, earning money by planting trees along with farming is becoming a wise step for the farmers. Due to the uncertainty of weather, rising costs and the problem of not getting fair prices for crops, relying only on traditional farming is no longer as safe as before. In such a situation, farmers can also earn good income by cultivating jackfruit. Its special thing is that farmers can get regular income for 60 to 70 years by planting trees once. It can be said that a garden planted with the hard work of one generation can become a source of income for the coming two generations.

Why do jackfruit prices increase in winter?

During summer, when there is a glut of jackfruit, its price in the markets becomes very low. But with the arrival of winter, its supply becomes very less, due to which its price suddenly increases. On the other hand, winter season is the season of weddings and festivals in India. There is huge demand for raw jackfruit vegetable and kofta in weddings. Therefore, due to high demand and low supply in the market, farmers selling jackfruit in this off-season become rich.

Ways to increase income

If you also want to leave traditional crops and do something new and more profitable, then jackfruit cultivation can be a good option. Nowadays, such improved varieties of jackfruit have come in the market which bear fruits two to three times a year. These are called ‘perennial’ or ‘all-season’ jackfruit. By planting these trees you get fruits even for winter. If you grow a jackfruit tree from seed, it will take a long time of 7 to 8 years for it to bear fruit. Instead of this, you should plant nursery plants, because these plants start bearing fruits in just 3 to 4 years. If you plant jackfruit saplings at a considerable distance from each other, then in the first 3-4 years, until the trees grow, you can earn money every month by growing turmeric, ginger or any winter vegetable on the empty land between them.
