The first and biggest reason is lack of correct information about the company. According to a report, about 47 percent of interviews fail because the candidate does not have complete information about the company’s work, its products or its needs. HR believes that this is the easiest mistake to correct, because it is not too difficult to read the company’s website and its news before the interview.

The second big reason is not being able to talk properly and not being able to express your thoughts clearly. Many candidates twist their answers to questions, which makes the interviewer feel that the candidate is not really interested in the job. Research shows that about one-third of companies suffer losses due to poor communication, so HR teams take this matter very seriously. Along with this, body language also has a big impact. Many interviewers believe that not being able to make eye contact also becomes a major reason for rejecting the candidate.

The third reason is not matching the company’s environment, which is called cultural fit in HR language. Many times a candidate is technically very capable, but his nature or way of working does not match the environment of the company. In such cases, companies often prefer to choose a candidate with less experience but who fits the environment. Apart from this, expecting more salary than required is also a common reason for rejection, especially when the candidate’s experience does not match the salary.

The fourth reason is the difference between what is said in the resume and the interview. If the candidate is not able to explain the things written in the resume properly in the interview or his answers do not match his experience, then the interviewer starts getting suspicious. HR professionals say that even small mistakes like spelling mistakes or wrong information in the resume are viewed seriously as it raises questions about the candidate’s attentiveness.

The fifth reason is lack of preparation. Many candidates go to the interview unprepared and get stuck even in answering common questions. Candidates who practice common questions beforehand answer with more confidence, and this confidence makes a good impression on the interviewer.

Overall, HR professionals believe that rejection in the interview does not mean that the candidate is not capable. Many times, proper preparation, good conversation and lack of information about the company is the real reason.
