India LPG Imports: Amidst the recent tension in West Asia, India has made a major change in its LPG supply strategy. Now the country does not want to depend only on Gulf countries for its gas needs. This is the reason that even in June, maximum purchase of LPG was made from America. According to the information given by the data, America continues to be India’s largest LPG supplier, while gas supply has also continued from big countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
India supplied 7.73 lakh metric tons of LPG from America in June, which is about 19.4% more than in May. At the same time, UAE has been the second largest LPG supplier to India, from where about 1.57 lakh metric tons of gas has been supplied. Along with this, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have supplied 64-64 thousand metric tons of LPG in June.

Recently, during the tension in West Asia, there was a lot of commotion among the people regarding the supply of LPG and crude oil. In such a situation, India has decided to increase energy purchases from different countries, so that there is no problem of any kind in future.

When did LPG supply increase?
According to data from commodity analytics firm Kpler, India’s total LPG supply has increased to 11.91 lakh metric tons in June, whereas it was 11.55 lakh metric tons in May. That means an increase of about 3% was recorded in a month.
However, to strengthen energy security, India has also signed a long-term agreement to buy 22 lakh tonnes of LPG from America every year. Its main objective is to strengthen the energy partnership between India and America and to reduce dependence on any one country.
What will be the plan next?
- India will no longer depend only on Gulf countries, but will continue purchasing LPG from different countries.
- The supply of LPG and crude oil from other countries including America will also increase.
- The aim of the government is to make energy security very strong, so that there is no problem of any kind in the availability of fuel.
