The Kremlin commented strongly on US President Donald Trump’s threats in which he had given an ultimatum to destroy Iran. In response to a question, Russia said that the entire Middle East is currently engulfed in flames and tension in the region is continuously increasing.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a press briefing in Moscow that recent developments are an indication that the situation has become very serious and its scope is not limited to just one country. He warned that if the situation is not brought under control, this conflict could take the form of a wider regional war.
In fact, US President Donald Trump threatened in an abusive post on social media Truth on Easter Sunday that if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened, US forces would target Iran’s power plants and bridges on Tuesday.
When asked about these comments of Trump, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told journalists that Russia has seen these comments, but the Kremlin does not want to comment directly on it.
Many countries have said that if there is any disruption in Hormuz, it will have a direct impact on the global energy market. Fluctuations are already being seen in oil prices, due to which the concerns of import dependent countries have increased.
Russia has expressed deep concern over this entire incident, saying that the current situation is not only a threat to regional stability, but it can also impact the global economy and supply chains. Moscow has appealed to all parties to exercise restraint and adopt the diplomatic path.
Peskov said, “The scope of this conflict has increased, and now we are all aware of its consequences, it will have a negative impact on the global economy.”
Amid the ongoing tension in the Middle East, many countries have issued security advisories for their citizens, while the international community continues to monitor the situation. Experts say that if the tension increases further, its impact can be felt in Asia and Europe.
