NCTE Investigation: The National Council for Teacher Education has constituted a 5-member independent fact-finding and verification committee to investigate alleged irregularities in 4 B.Ed colleges of Madhya Pradesh. These institutions have been accused of not operating from the fixed address and not having basic facilities as per the standards. NCTE has directed the committee to conduct an on-site investigation and submit a detailed report within five working days. According to the order issued on July 15, the committee will also submit document evidence, photos and video records along with its report. NCTE says that further action will be decided on the basis of the investigation report.

Investigation started after media report

This investigation was started after media reports related to irregularities in three B.Ed colleges affiliated to Barkatullah University surfaced. During initial verification, officials came to know that another B.Ed college was running from the same premises. After this, the scope of investigation was increased to a total of four institutions. According to NCTE, the committee reached Madhya Pradesh on July 17 and started physical inspection of all the four colleges.

Who is included in the committee?

The inquiry committee is being headed by HCS Rathore, former vice-chancellor of Central University of South Bihar. The committee includes UGC Joint Secretary Ashima Mangala, Director of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Bhagwati Prasad Kalal and J.P. Singh, a nominated representative of the Madhya Pradesh government and Wing Commander Vijay Rana, regional director of the Western Regional Committee of NCTE. meet.

Which aspects will be investigated?

The committee has been asked to conduct on-site inspection of the colleges. Geotagged photos and video recording will be done during the investigation to confirm whether the institutions are operating from their approved addresses or not. Apart from this, the committee will also match the recognition related documents, performance appraisal report and other records submitted by the colleges. During the inspection, it will be seen whether the concerned institutions are following the NCTE Act 1993 and NCTE Regulations and standards for recognition or not. In this, buildings, classrooms, laboratories, land, teaching resources, availability of faculty and other necessary facilities will also be examined.

Action will be taken against violation of rules

Describing this whole matter as serious, NCTE said that if the investigation confirms violation of rules by any institute, then strict action will be taken against it. According to the council, after a 360-degree comprehensive review of all elements, punitive measures will be taken against institutions found guilty.
