‘Netanyahu is very angry’, Trump and Israeli PM clashed over Iran, claims American media

There was a very heated conversation over the phone between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the future strategy of the ongoing war against Iran as Washington appears to be in favor of an agreement rather than launching military attacks again.

American media organization ‘Axios’ said in its news on Wednesday (May 21, 2026) that Netanyahu was ‘very upset’ after talking to Trump on Tuesday. The news said that the Israeli Prime Minister is in favor of resuming attacks to further weaken Iran’s military capabilities and weaken the regime by targeting its critical infrastructure.

Trump said on Sunday that he had postponed the planned attack on Iran scheduled for Tuesday. He said that this decision was taken after the request of many Arab countries including Qatar and United Arab Emirates. According to the news of ‘Axios’, Qatar and Pakistan have prepared a revised peace draft with the suggestions of other regional mediators with the aim of reducing differences between America and Iran.

The report said that Netanyahu is skeptical about the negotiation process and believes that war should be restarted to further weaken Iran’s military power. At the same time, Trump is continuously saying that the possibility of an agreement still remains, but if no agreement is reached then he is ready to restart the war.

He said at the Coast Guard Academy on Wednesday, ‘Now the only question is whether we will go there and end it completely or whether they will sign some document. Let’s see what happens. Later on Wednesday, Trump said that America and Iran are currently standing on the border between agreement and war.

After returning to Washington from the Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut, Trump told reporters, ‘The situation is at a critical juncture. If we do not get the right answers, the situation can change very rapidly. We are fully prepared. We want a satisfactory answer.

‘CNN’ quoting an Israeli source said in its news that the Israeli government wants military action again. At the same time, there is increasing tension over the fact that the Trump administration, according to Israel, is allowing Iran’s diplomacy to deliberately prolong the talks to continue.

Trump also said, ‘Netanyahu will do what I want in the matter of Iran.’ Iran has confirmed that it is reviewing the revised proposal, but till now there has been no indication of any leniency from its side. Iran’s Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that talks are continuing on the basis of Iran’s 14-point proposal and Pakistan’s Interior Minister has reached Tehran to help in mediation.

An American source with knowledge of the conversation told Axios that Trump told Netanyahu that mediators were working on a letter of intent that both the US and Iran would sign. Its aim is to formally end the war and begin 30 days of talks on issues such as Iran’s nuclear program and opening the Strait of Hormuz.
