EV Battery Reuse: Now the craze of petrol and diesel in the automobile industry is gradually ending because the whole world is rapidly shifting towards electric vehicles. Due to which now we are seeing a lot of EV vehicles on the roads also. However, a big question is also arising that what will happen to the vehicles when their batteries get damaged. But now the answer to this tension has been found.

Let us tell you that the world’s largest EV battery repurposing megafactory has started in Vancouver, Canada. A company named Moment Energy has prepared this Megafactory 1. This plant will give new life to those bad EV batteries which till now people considered useless. Now these batteries from electric vehicles will not be thrown away, but will be reused to make powerful energy storage systems which will provide electricity to big data centers and hospitals. So let us understand this news in full detail.

Old batteries will get new life

Let us tell you that, often people think that when a battery becomes useless for the vehicle. So it is completely finished. But the truth is the opposite because even after retiring from EV, about 70 to 80 percent capacity remains in these batteries. Megafactory 1 will make proper use of this remaining energy. The company will recover these old batteries and convert them into modular energy storage systems.

Due to which this system will work as backup in case of power supply failure. This technology will not only reduce e-waste. Rather, a good option of clean energy will also be available which will prove to be very beneficial for the environment.

Will remove power shortage

You must be aware that nowadays due to AI and data centers, the demand for electricity has increased very rapidly all over the world. In areas like North America, power shortage has become a big problem. In such a situation, this megafactory has emerged as a game-changer.

The battery systems manufactured in this factory have been designed in such a way that they can provide uninterrupted power to critical infrastructure like microgrids, data centers, factories and hospitals. In this way, a new power source is being created from old batteries which will easily handle the energy needs of the future.

Big target is 1 GWh by 2030

For information, let us tell you that the most surprising thing about this megafactory is its speed. Within just 6 weeks of the announcement of the project, the company made this plant operational. The Government of Canada has also provided funding of approximately 4.9 million Canadian dollars to run this big project.

The company’s target is to build battery storage systems of 1 GWh capacity here every year by the year 2030. This will not only keep the environment clean, but will also generate more than 100 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs at the local level, which can prove to be a big boost for the economy.
