Bihar Internship Scheme: A big step has been taken in Bihar towards linking higher education with employment. Now the students doing graduation in Bihar will not have to be limited to just getting a degree, but during their studies, they will also get the opportunity to join the industry and gain experience. For this, a new system is being implemented, under which graduate level students will be given internship and in return a stipend of Rs 12,300 will be given every month. In fact, the Bihar government believes that the need of the hour is to prepare the youth studying in college as per the needs of the industry. For this purpose, Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Program is being started. Through this program, efforts will be made to connect students with skill development and employment opportunities along with studies.

Will start from a new educational level

There is a preparation to start this program from the academic level 2026-27. In the initial phase, it will be implemented in 13 selected colleges under four universities. Students of the third year of graduation studying in these colleges will get the opportunity of internship. After successful operation of the program, it will be extended to other colleges of the state also. To implement this scheme, the Higher Education Department has entered into an agreement with the Hyderabad-based Center for Research in Schemes and Policies. After the MOU between the two institutions, the process of implementing the program has been started.

Apprenticeship will be mandatory in the third year

AEDP will be a 4 year graduation programme. Its structure has been designed in such a way that 75 percent of it will be dedicated to academic studies from the beginning, while 25 percent will be dedicated to industry-based skill training. The most important feature of the program is that apprenticeship will be mandatory for the students in the third year. During this time, students will work with industry and institutes and will get experience of working in the field. During this time, students will also be given a stipend of Rs 12,300 per month.

Students of these subjects will get benefits

Under this programme, along with traditional courses, employment-oriented subjects have also been included. Courses like Digital Electronics and Health Care Management have been included in Science. Whereas in commerce, courses like B.Com, BFSI retail operation and e-commerce will be conducted. Under Arts, courses like Content and Creative Writing have also been made a part of the scheme. The aim of the government is to promote such courses which are in high demand in the current employment market.

The program will start in these colleges

The major colleges that have been included in the initial phase of the scheme include BN College and Magadh Women’s College of Patna University, College of Commerce, Arts and Science of Patliputra University, Ganga Devi Women’s College and JD Women’s College. Apart from this, Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur National College, BR Ambedkar Bihar University’s RN College Hajipur, RSS Science College Sitamarhi and LN Dubey College Motihari have also been selected for this program.
