Do not let physical challenges become a weakness. It is often said that the real height of a person is not measured by his height, but by his courage and deeds. Teacher Sanjeev Majumdar, resident of Titabar in Jorhat district of Assam, is a living example of this. Sanjeev, who was only three feet tall, never allowed his physical challenge to become his weakness. With his courage, confidence and dedication, he proved that no obstacle is too big for strong intentions.
Today Sanjeev Majumdar is working as an assistant teacher in Srimant Shankar Vidyapeeth, Titabar. For his excellent contribution in the field of education, he was awarded the Best Teacher Award of Jorhat district in the year 2025.
The journey of starting a job and getting transferred
Sanjeev says while remembering his journey. I started my job as an assistant teacher in the year 2008. Initially my posting was in Jorhat. At that time it was very difficult for me to travel daily. In the year 2015, I was transferred to this school in Titabar which is just one kilometer away from my house. At that time, the then Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat, Vishal Basant Solanki had helped me in my appointment here. He further says. During these 18 years of service, I had many good and bad experiences. But every moment spent with children is the most beautiful time of my life.
stand on the bench and teach children
Every day Sanjeev enters the classroom carrying not only books but also the burden of expectations on his shoulders. Due to his short height, he has to stand on the bench to teach. But neither he has any hesitation with this nor do his students, for him this is not a weakness, but the biggest mark of struggle and self-confidence.
Apart from imparting education, Sanjeev plays equal role in almost every responsibility of the school. From cleaning the school premises to arranging mid-day meals, he does every work with full dedication. According to his colleagues, he is one of the most responsible and trustworthy teachers of the school.
Best Teacher Award became a memorable moment
Sanjeev says about these responsibilities. I look after the mid-day meal arrangements in the school. I perform the responsibility of cleanliness and also assist in other administrative works. In the year 2025, I was honored with the Best Teacher Award of Jorhat district, which is a very memorable moment of my life.
Give equal importance to social service
Even outside school, Sanjeev actively participates in social service. He is active in various social programs and is always ready to help people. Even at home, he helps his mother in household chores. He believes that no work is small.
Consider education as a mission of social service.
For him, teaching is not just a job but a mission of society building. Even after school, he teaches children and every year he encourages the meritorious students by giving them awards.
Got government job after struggle
The journey of becoming a government teacher was not easy for him. They had to fight a long battle for their rights, but they never gave up. On the strength of his hard work and strong will, he achieved what he had imagined.

For seven consecutive years, he traveled long distances every day in difficult conditions to educate children. Later, in view of the difficulties of travelling, he was transferred to Titabar’s school. Apart from being a teacher, Sanjeev also fulfills the additional responsibilities assigned by the administration whole-heartedly.
Never shirked from election duty
He says I was born to help people. Wherever I go, people hand over responsibilities to me. I have completed my graduation. I am also given the responsibility of election duty. Till now I have performed my duty in four elections. My only condition is that considering my physical condition the administration should provide me a private vehicle.
He further says that many people try to avoid additional government responsibilities like elections, but I never did so. I always fulfill my responsibilities happily.
