Pakistan’s nervousness visible amid US-Iran tension, Shahbaz seeks refuge in Gulf countries to save the country, Munir reaches Tehran

Pakistan is intensifying its mediation efforts between America and Iran. After the failure of the first talks, Pakistan’s nervousness regarding the second round of talks is clearly visible. Pakistan’s Chief Marshal Asim Munir has reached Iran to discuss the next round of talks. On the other hand, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is on a tour of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey for economic help.

Actually, there are many reasons for Pakistan’s nervousness. By becoming a mediator between Iran and America, Pakistan not only wants to improve its image at the international level but is also hoping for economic relief. Since America imposed sanctions on Iran, it has become impossible for Pakistan to buy oil from Iran. In such a situation, if Pakistan can take some initiative in stopping the conflict by becoming a mediator, then it is possible that America may give it some relief in future and Pakistan can buy oil from Iran. The other side is Iran, so possibly after taking exemption from America, Pakistan will be able to buy oil at cheap prices.

Economically, Pakistan is facing a deep crisis. By the end of April, Pakistan will have to return the loan of 3.5 billion dollars taken from UAE. In such a situation, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has reached three countries so that his country can get financial help from somewhere.

Pakistan needs the support of Gulf countries to save its economy. Oil will become more expensive for Pakistan which is facing economic crisis due to Hormuz crisis. Because of this, the financial pressure on him will increase further. In such a situation, one reason for this arbitrage could be buying cheap or borrowed oil.

After the failure of Iran-America talks, it will also affect the shipping routes, the expenses of which will be difficult for America to bear. If Hormuz is closed, Pakistan’s energy supply will be badly affected. Even at present, inflation has reached its peak in Pakistan, hence if the conflict escalates further, its impact will be seen double.

Billions of dollars of aid are expected from Saudi Arabia and Qatar during Shahbaz Sharif’s visit. On one hand, Pakistan is joining talks with Iran and conveying America’s message there; On the other hand, it is extending a helping hand to the Gulf countries.

Let us tell you, after the attack by Israel and America on February 28, Iran targeted the properties of Israel and America in the countries of West Asia. Iran and Gulf countries have also suffered economic losses in these attacks. In such a situation, if talks do not work out between Iran and America and the conflict flares up further, then Pakistan’s dual policy may prove to be costly.
