Jawaharlal Nehru University has released e-prospectus for the academic session 2026-27. In this prospectus, the entire process of admission to Undergraduate, Postgraduate, PG Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs is explained in clear words. Let us know how students will get admission in JNU?
The university has clarified that this time the basis of admission will be different national entrance examinations. That means first the exam score, then separate application in JNU. These two steps will take the students to this prestigious university.
CUET UG will open the way
Admission to courses like BA (Hons.) Foreign Language, B.Sc. Ayurveda Biology and Certificate of Proficiency will be based on the score of CUET UG 2026. This means that students who want to come to these courses will have to first perform well in CUET UG.
What is necessary for B.Tech?
For students who dream of studying engineering, JNU has made it clear that admission to B.Tech will be based on the score of JEE Main. That means, only the marks obtained in JEE Main will decide the path of admission.

CUET PG is necessary for PG
Admission to programs like MA, MSc, MPH, MTech, PG Diploma and Advanced Diploma will be through CUET PG 2026. Students first give CUET PG and then apply to JNU.
Separate examination for specific courses
Admission to MSc Biotechnology and MSc Computational Biology will be based on GAT-B score. At the same time, admission to MTech (CSE and ECE) courses of School of Engineering will be given through CCMT.
Separate application necessary in JNU after examination
The university has emphasized on one important thing that merely giving the examination is not enough. After the results of the respective examination are declared, students will have to visit the JNU website and apply separately. Students who forget this step may be left out of the admission process. Therefore, it is important to keep checking the official website for updates regularly.
Opportunity for foreign students also
JNU has also started the application process for international students. The last date of application for such students has been fixed as 30 April 2026. The application form will have to be sent to the administrative block of JNU through post or email.
