PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has stressed the need to start talks between India and Pakistan. He said that he is happy that many senior RSS leaders including Dattatreya Hosabale and Mohan Bhagwat have also expressed the need for talks with Pakistan. Mehbooba Mufti said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a golden opportunity at this time. According to him, if the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan start talking to each other, then many old issues can be resolved.
Mehbooba Mufti said that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir has been a major cause of tension between the two countries for a long time. If the path of dialogue opens, then progress can be made towards solving this problem. Mehbooba Mufti stressed that there should be talks with Pakistan and the closed borders between the two countries should also be opened. He believes that increased contact and dialogue between people can improve relationships.

Mehbooba Mufti said that there should be movement of people, dialogue and exchange of ideas between India and Pakistan. According to him, good neighborly relations are very important for peace and stability in the region. Referring to the statement of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said that Vajpayee ji had said that friends can be changed, but neighbors cannot. Mehbooba Mufti said that today this thing seems to be proved true again. He told that his party has written letters to the Prime Ministers of both India and Pakistan. In this letter, an appeal has been made to reduce tension and resolve disputed issues through dialogue.
What did Mehbooba Mufti say about SAARC?
Mehbooba Mufti said that the identity of any Prime Minister is not determined only by his strength, but by how many big controversies he resolved during his tenure. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a big and important opportunity regarding the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He says that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir has been affecting India-Pakistan relations for a long time. Due to this reason, regional cooperation in South Asia has also been affected. Mehbooba Mufti said that the pace of a big regional organization like SAARC also slowed down due to India-Pakistan tension and Kashmir issue. According to him, SAARC was a platform which India could have taken forward strongly, but due to continuous tension its prospects became weak.
