Rajeev Verma has said goodbye to Bollywood 11 years ago. He entered Bollywood with Salman Khan’s film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. After this he never looked back and worked in many films. His last film ‘Jazbaa’ came in the year 2015, in which he was seen with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Why did Rajiv Verma leave the industry?
The actor said in an interview to Dear Generation, ‘Slowly the fun had stopped. It was just routine work that if you want to run it, do it in Mumbai, keep doing it here. I was beginning to think that now I will go, now I won’t. I am not enjoying. There was no need anyway. I have a small hotel here, it is functional, there is food and bread, we are happy.
Rajeev Verma told that after working continuously for decades, he wanted to spend more and more time with family and friends. He said, ‘Meeting friends, going to weddings, meeting relatives, spending time with family… all this had become almost non-existent. I wanted to spend time with my family, so I left the industry.

Father’s roles were available in films
Rajeev Verma also told that after ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ he started being offered similar roles. He said, after the success of ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, he was getting only father’s roles. You get bored playing the same character. Makers think about who is playing the role of father and then you get fixed in the category. The same was found in every film. I asked what is the character? So they used to say, Sir, whatever you did in it.
No one knew Salman Khan then – Rajeev Verma
He further said, ‘Maine Pyar Kiya was my first film. By then, I had become a well-known face on TV because of famous serials like ‘Chunauti’ and ‘Mujrim Hazir’. Today people mostly know me as Salman Khan’s father in ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. They often say, “Hey, you were in that Salman Khan film.” But when we made this film, no one knew Salman Khan. This was his first film as a lead actor.
Rajiv Verma used to do acting along with his job.
Rajiv further said, ‘I never thought of working with big stars. I was busy balancing acting along with my job. For almost ten years, I continued to work while doing my regular job. In 1996, I finally resigned from my job and started pursuing acting completely. After working in the industry for years, the excitement I once felt about acting gradually disappeared.
