BJP has announced its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections on Sunday (June 7). After BJP’s announcement, the stir in the politics of the state has intensified. The party has fielded M Nagaraj from Karnataka and Mahesh Kevat from Madhya Pradesh. Now the voting process will take place after the third candidate for Rajya Sabha in the form of Mahesh Kevat has been fielded.
Mahesh Kevat from BJP will file his nomination today, while Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan will also file her nomination. Apart from this, BJP has also made Lingaraj Patil and Raghu Kautilya its candidates for the Karnataka Legislative Council elections.
When will Rajya Sabha elections be held?
BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh said in a notification that the Central Election Committee has approved the names of these candidates. Elections will be held on June 18 for 24 Rajya Sabha seats from 10 states including Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Manipur and Karnataka. Apart from this, Karnataka Legislative Council elections will also be held on June 18.
Congress fielded a woman candidate in place of Digvijay
A total of three Rajya Sabha seats are falling vacant in Madhya Pradesh. BJP has made National General Secretary Tarun Chugh and State Secretary Rajneesh Aggarwal its candidates for the biennial election process of Rajya Sabha. After a long time, Congress has made a female face (former MP Meenakshi Natarajan) its candidate from the seat being vacated by Digvijay Singh.
Earlier, while talking to the media in Indore, Kailash Vijayvargiya had said that both the BJP candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections are very good and he thanks the top leadership of the party for their selection. He said that I hope that all our candidates will win the Rajya Sabha elections. He had already said that if the party fields any third candidate, we will try to make him win too.
