Rohit Sharma’s career is surrounded by uncertainties. There is a lot of discussion that Rohit can end his career after Lord’s ODI on 19th July. Amidst these speculations, former cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has asked sharp questions to Team India management and selectors. He questioned whether the management and selectors are trying to make Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli feel that they are no longer needed in the team.
Targeted at selectors
Ravichandran Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, “Yashaswi Jaiswal has been doing well and is waiting for his opportunity. But if you look from the perspective of a selector, coach or that person, if you have already made up your mind that this player will not play in the 2027 ODI World Cup, then they should have told this immediately after the Champions Trophy 2025.”
Ashwin gave his example and said that Team India had done well in the home series against Bangladesh, but the team could not do well against New Zealand. Ashwin said that he takes responsibility for his poor performance. Ashwin further said that when the team went to Australia, he felt that the management did not want to keep him in the team.
No need of Rohit…
He also said that everyone deserves a bad series. The veteran spinner said in sharp words that if a player is made to feel that he is no longer needed in the team, then obviously his performance will be affected.
Ashwin said, “If any of them feel that the management no longer needs them, then two things will happen. First, they will not be able to give their best and second, despite being with the team, they will look as if their confidence has fallen.”
