Following the order of the Supreme Court, Housing Development Council today launched a big sealing campaign in Shastri Nagar Central Market of Meerut. As part of the action, schools, hospitals, nursing homes and complexes operating on 44 residential plots are being sealed. The administration is present at the spot with heavy police force, while hundreds of traders have come out in protest, due to which there is a tense situation in the area. The court has sought a report on this action by April 9 and the campaign is continuing.
It is being told that a few months ago, action was taken on a large plot of land in the same Central Market and now on the orders of the Supreme Court, the process of demolition has been started on about 860 such plots.
Meanwhile, Sardhana MLA Atul Pradhan reached the market and supported the traders and said that Shastri Nagar Central Market is not just a market but the center of livelihood and emotions of the people. He assured that he stands with the traders and will make every possible effort to wake up the government, and also talked about working in the interest of the traders in the future under the leadership of Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav.
