Share market today April 24: Today, on the last trading day of the week, a decline is being seen in the Indian stock market. Sensex and Nifty are under pressure amid global tensions and rising crude oil prices. In the morning the Sensex fell by about 180 points and opened at 77484.

Then during trading it saw a huge fall of up to 500 points. Similarly, Nifty has also fallen by 147 points and reached the level of 24025. A slight rise of 13 percent was seen in Nifty Bank in early trade.

Top Gainers and Losers

Today there is selling pressure in Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma in the stock market. Infosys was the top loser with a decline of 3 percent in early trade. Apart from this, a decline was also seen in the shares of HCL Tech, Sun Pharma, TCS, ICICI Bank.

Similarly, Mahindra & Mahindra, L&T, Hindustan Unilever, Indigo, Nestle India were among the top gainers. Shares of these companies are trading in the green.

US anti-dumping duty on India

The US Commerce Department on Thursday announced initial anti-dumping duties on solar cells and panels imported from India, Indonesia and Laos. This is the latest series of tariffs imposed on solar imports from Asia over the past decade.

Citing a fact sheet posted on the Commerce Department’s website, Reuters reported that the agency calculated preliminary duty rates—also known as dumping margins. These rates are 123.04 percent for imports from India, 35.17 percent for imports from Indonesia and 22.46 percent for imports from Laos.

According to government trade data, last year these three countries contributed $4.5 billion to total US solar imports, which is about two-thirds of total imports.

Today, there is a rise in the prices of crude oil again. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures are trading 1.34 percent higher at $ 97.14 per barrel. Brent crude futures were trading 1.36 percent higher at $106.58 this morning. Crude oil prices on COMEX increased by 0.96 percent to $ 96.77 per barrel.
