Got time to liquidate old stock
Actually, the government has given some more time to shoe manufacturing companies to sell their old stock. This little time is actually not a little but a whole year. Now shoe selling companies can dispose of their old stock by 31 July 2027. Earlier the date for expiry of this stock was 31 July 2026.

Shopkeepers got relief
After this decision of the government, shopkeepers have got some relief. Because now they do not need to hold any sale in a hurry to liquidate their stock. Or there will be no compulsion on them to sell the shoes at a lower price. However, this does not mean that festive season sales will not be held, they will definitely be held but now shopkeepers will not need to hold any sale to finish the lot.
Why was the decision taken?
The government has taken this decision because the shoe business is dependent on the weather. The shoes which are not sold remain lying till the next season. In such a situation, after this date, only those shoes can be sold in India, which have received certificate from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

Domestic production will get a boost
According to the new rules implemented by the government, now every company will be able to import 4500 pairs of samples. These samples will not be for sale but will be imported for the purpose of understanding and testing the new design. This will make it easier to understand domestic production and will also be used to showcase these shoes to sellers.
