Stock Market Today: The fourth trading day of the week, Thursday, April 23, started with a sharp decline in the Indian stock market. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened trading in the red.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index opened with a decline of 532.83 points or 0.68 percent. Sensex started the day at the level of 77,983.66. At the same time, NSE Nifty 50 also started the day negative. Nifty 50 slipped 175.75 points or 0.72 percent and opened at the level of 24,202.5.
By around 9:20 am, the Sensex was trading at 77,886 points, down by 630 points. Whereas Nifty 50 had slipped 172 points and was trading at the level of 24,205.

PowerGrid, TCS and HCL Tech were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, they were Indigo, Mahindra & Mahindra, Eternal, Bajaj Finance and Asian Paint.

There was a strong decline in the Indian stock market on the trading day of Wednesday, 22 April. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 ended the day trading in the red. Sensex fell by 756.84 points or 0.95 percent to 78,516.49 points, while NSE Nifty 50 slipped by 198.50 points or 0.81 percent and closed at the level of 24,378.10.
