There is an atmosphere of tension after the demonstration at Jantar Mantar in the capital Delhi and the violent incidents of July 20. The protests by students regarding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the NEET controversy are becoming increasingly fierce. In view of this environment, Delhi University (DU) administration has taken a strict administrative step. The university has issued an official advisory to all its students and teaching staff, in which it is strictly prohibited to participate in any demonstration or protest meeting at Jantar Mantar.

Permission to stay away from Jantar Mantar protest

Delhi University administration has issued a notice on X (earlier Twitter) and appealed to all its students and teachers not to be a part of any protest going on at Jantar Mantar. The university has made it clear that in the current circumstances it is extremely important to give top priority to one’s personal safety. In view of the recent police clashes and tense situation at Jantar Mantar, the administration does not want the students of the campus to become victims of any kind of risk or physical injury. Therefore, students have been advised to maintain distance from disputed sites.

There may be a negative impact on studies and career.

The university says that participation in any kind of violent or illegal protests hinders the academic activities of the students. Continued involvement in such movements not only leads to loss of studies but can also have a deep negative impact on the future and professional opportunities of the students. The university has said that getting entangled in disciplinary or legal matters can tarnish the career records of students, which in turn can permanently affect their chances of getting jobs or higher education in the country and abroad.

Strict action against taking part in illegal protest

The university administration has issued a warning and made it very clear that if anyone breaks the rules, he will not be spared. If any student or teacher of Delhi University is found involved in any illegal demonstration or unauthorized gathering organized at Jantar Mantar, then strict legal and disciplinary action will be taken against him as per rules. In case of violation of university rules and laws of the country, FIR can be registered against the concerned person along with strict punitive action like expulsion from the institute can also be taken.
