Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins admitted this after the 47-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League eliminator match on Wednesday. While chasing the target of 244 runs, his team lost some wickets at the wrong time.
Chasing the target of 244 runs of Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers team was reduced to 196 runs in 19.2 overs in front of the sharp bowling of Archer (three wickets for 58 runs), Sushant Mishra (two wickets for 21 runs), Ravindra Jadeja (two wickets for 21 runs) and Nandre Berger (two wickets for 26 runs) and were out of the tournament.
Rajasthan Royals had scored 243 runs for eight wickets with the half-centuries of Vaibhav Suryavanshi (97 runs in 29 balls with 12 sixes and five fours) and Dhruv Jurel (50 runs in 21 balls with five fours and three sixes).
Pat Cummins said after the match, “To achieve the target of 245 (244) runs, some things had to go right in the team’s favor. But we lost some wickets at the wrong time. We were just a little away from finishing in the top two but the efforts of the boys cannot be doubted.
Pat Cummins praised Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi and said, “He played very well.” The pitch was very good, but the margin of error is so small that if you miss the yorker, he does not miss it. The wicket was quite good. Our team is very balanced in every respect.
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins also praised his young bowlers and said, “Praful and Shakib were very good. We are one of the youngest teams to reach the playoffs and the coaching team has discovered some great diamonds.
